Thanks to a generous $800,000 grant from the Eleanor and Clarence Prevo Fund at the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation, the Wildcat soccer and lacrosse teams are set to receive a new home adjacent to Wildcat Stadium. This state-of-the-art facility, to be constructed on the site of Lewis Field, will not only benefit UNH athletic teams but also the Oyster River Youth Association’s soccer program, serving as a vital link between the university and the broader community. The initiative, aimed at fostering opportunities for both athletic training and community engagement, reflects a collaborative effort, further exemplified by a recent anonymous donation of $28,000 and a $25,000 challenge grant. With groundbreaking slated for spring 2018 pending fundraising success, the facility will be developed in phases to accommodate the diverse needs of the teams and enhance athletic programs for years to come.
“Our goal is to ensure all athletes are afforded an opportunity to play and we are fortunate to be able to help UNH, NEP and the Oyster River community create facilities and support programs that share our common mission.” says the donors behind the Prevo grant.
